Fuel Sending Unit

got new guages and took all old wire out of boat how do i wire the fuel sender it has 2 wires black and yellow the guage has 3 prongs what do i do

one of the prongs is for the guage lamp's power

what I mean to say is..you need a +12v supply to the guage(usually coming from a switch) plus the black(-) and yellow (I've usually seen orange for the fuel sender). The guage usually does have markings for the posts

Some power it from the "key on" power, some from "Instruments" panel switch, some from its own momentary switch so it only reads when you hold the switch on.

thanks

so i will have the +(power) coming from the switch and the - (NEG) going to the gauge then to the -BUS and the yellow wire going to the terminal point in the middle of the gauge

I have never had a working gauge on any boat! 1st boat were 6 gal tanks, V20 had 65 gal, and i filled each time i went out and never got close to running out, now the Sea Ox has 110 gal gas and i always fill up even after a 75 mile trip i only used 30 gal
