Started dewinterizing the boat today, weather not expected to go below freezing until December..if it does, I have a block heater aka drop light.
After starting my straight 6 GM 165 I/O, I noticed that the alternator/circulating pump belt had a nick in it...to remove the belt, you have to take off a motor mount!! what should have been a 10 minute job turned into a headache, supporting the engine and making sure nothing moves...would hate to loose the belt off shore...it makes me wonder why I carried a spare anyway....what the heck was Mercruiser thinking in '76!!
Enough whining, teak was cleaned and oiled, engine started, testing downriggers tommorrow and fixing the nav lights, bilge pump, fuel guage and 1 instrument light then it's test run time
