You are right about that with a lot of kids, but I will tell you this, when I was growing up I had the same kind of parents like you, but when I was in Jr. High and High school friends of ours, brotheres and fathers of friends were going off to die on a regular basis in a foreign jungle, there was never before or since a generation who confronted authority like the people within a few years of me growing up. Students were rioting, holding sit ins things were just crazy.
But I believe as we got older we came to realize that a lot of what was happening we were wrong about, especially old hippies like me and Franco (not Ozzie he was WWII era).
Most young people as they get older and get some life experience change their opinions quite a bit, its life, its growing up. Unless you are a flaming liberal then you never quite get rid of the rose colored glasses.
The point I am making it is life experiences that shape you, just like what happened to Jason in his comments above. Yet I am sure Jason has also witnessed himself or at least heard of amazing things cops do everyday to help others, but that one circumstance gave him an initial response to this thread that was very negative.
That is why that officer in the video was so wrong, because he affected at least three young men for the rest of their lives.
