Hey all you guys been going crazy here wiorking on the boats.

Picked ap a couple new projects as of late.

1972 MAKO 19 1500 Merc
1976 Nova 21 W/A Fisherman 188
1963 Bertram 25 CC twin 165 I/O's

I might need the 165 in my V20 for the Berti, Fun Project.

But just picked up a 200 Suzuki engine. It seems pretty good
now will it be a good choice for the V20 with a Bracket?

Never really had a Zuk came on a trade could not resist. PT works &
135 compression dry on all 6. Plugs are nice.

What is the general consensus amoung you guys around here on Zukz...

What are the pro's & Cons on different brackets. Prolly Flotation type. Gill, Armstrong?

What year? EFI or carb'd? They're pretty good engines, but suffer from corrosion if used around the salt and not cared for. The lower units are bad about splitting in the prop hub area, and lower units for them are EXPENSIVE! The late model EFI engines weighed 470 pounds, so not a real heavy 200, but not a light weight either. They had problems with the boron cylinder liners in some of them, but it normally showed up in the first 500 hours if it was going to be a problem. It's also an interesting engine if you really look at it as it is a modular design. The crank is a multi-piece design, the cylinders bolt onto the block, 1 piece connecting rods, and pretty aggressive porting in them to get the power out of them. Also some were what is known as a super six with dual plugs, and they were basically teh HO engines(all 225's were dual plugs, but the 150, 175, and 200 could be single or dual).

think it is a 89

She is carved motor single plugs. It froze in he prop area band got it welded. I will I'll post up some picts today of it. To see what it is.

Suggest you post questions on the Hull Truth web site - some real knowledgeable guys there.

Think some of the older Zuk's had a few corrosion related issues, but definitely depends on the year and such. Good luck with it, I believe a good running motor.

Looks like she should power the Old V around OK. Who has a used Bracket?
Has a little corrosion on the upper nuts on there might not be stainless?

Wow Photobucket really works good now!
