N. Carolina guys:

I was down your neck of the woods this passed weekend, Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach to be specific. My stay wasn't long.....I had gotten "elected" to move my sister in law back to New York from Wilmington. Flew down to N.C. Sat am with the intentions of a quick turn-around and drive back to N.Y. The U-haul was a 28 footer, packed to capacity, and hitched on the back was a car trailer w/ a 2008 3 series BMW. This rig was nearly 50 ft. in length. [BTW, there was no mention of any "trailer"] Anyway, got a quick tour of Wil. and Writsvll. beach......very nice.....had lunch at a popular inter coastal rest. Can't recall the name, was right on the inter coastal, sorta white stucco building w/ a blue roof, just over a draw bridge that ,I think, bought you into writsvll. beach. Quick walk down to the pier [ a lot of people fishing from the pier] and that was about it. Got into this 50ft, 50,000 pound missile and headed west on RT. 40...."y'all" need some lights on that road, then 95 North for the next 13-14 hours. Can't say I'd be looking forward to do that again, but I would like visit and have a little more time. Looks like a nice place to live. Some REALLY nice, BIG sportfishermans parked all over the place, they've all got that big Carolina flare thing going on. Wished I could have stayed longer!

My daughter lives there now and manages "Dicks" Sporting goods store there. It is pretty and nice, she loves it for the fishing (she's a big fisherman) and pretty good one at that.

Glad you had a nice "visit".

I can't remember the name of that restaurant, its been a few years since I've been to it....but it was always good.

Come on back some time and we'll show you a good time.

Lights on I-40? Then you would be able to see the deer BEFORE you hit them.....that's crazy talk.

No the Bridge Tender is brown, I think you were at Bluewater. If it was a two story build ing it was the Bluewater. My marina is right around the corner from there. If you turned left after leaving Wrightsville beach you would drive over a low concrtete bridge with 4 lanes with a huge marina to your left, that's my place. It is a beautiful place to be sure. Come back down and see us sometime. No offense, but it's good to hear when yankees go back home. LOL! Just kidding.

bcmarina, that's it , the Bluewater. I had the best tasting crab dip ever. They wouldn't cook my "yankee food" med-rare so I had the roasted chicken sandwich instead. Cool place. And Randle, fyi, I did nail a raccoon on I-40. At least I think it was a raccoon. The low beams on this U-haul were to low and they pointed more to the right than straight ahead. I didn't see that mangy critter until it was six feet off the right side bumper. I believe I got him with all five passenger side tires. Bam!!Badumpbadump! Caught a fleeting glimpse in the side view mirror of blood and guts flying everywhere. Well, to bad I have little if no sympathy at all for raccoons. I was also at a surf shop called "Wings"[?]....had to grab a couple of souvenir sweatshirts.Wrightsville Beach is definitely my kind of town

Cool Phester my brother in law lives there and I've made 2 trips so far this year. It is an awesome place for sure. Wrightsville has some beautiful blue water.

I don't know if ya'll have any up that way, but "Wings" isn't a surf shop. It's more just a tourist shop. If you ever go down to Myrtle Beach, SC you'll see them across the street from each other, and sometimes right next door to each other. Those places are EVERYWHERE. Luckly, we only have that one in Wrightsville. Carolina Beach (just south of Wrightsville) has quite a few Wings too. As far as the water goes, it is B-E-A-utiful for sure. When the weather cools down like it is right now, it really clears up from lack of boat traffic. Somedays, even back here in the creek at the marina, you can see the bottom in 10' of water! You definitely can't do that in the summer.

To finish Grizzard's quote:"If you don't like the way we do it down here, Delta's ready when you are and we can have your @$$ back up there this afternoon!!"...:you:
