I had a 01 suzuki 150 and what he is refering to is not the lower unit. The motors dont stay locked down in position when you put in reverse under hard acceleration. they tend to ride up out of water. Mine did it all time If you backup at slow speed not a problem, but if you try backing up fast the motor tilts up. I had my 150 for 6 years and never a problem. Hated to see it go when sold boat.Too much money for an engine that he admits has lower unit trouble. A good used lower for that SUZUKI will set you back anywhere from $600-$1500 depending upon condition and shaft length. The lower units are a problem area in the SUZUKI's, and corrosion in general. Other than that they are good powerful engines that are good on fuel.
