New Power is Powerful !!!

Fellow propnuts,

Today I took out the 88 Steplift with her new power plant hooked to the rear. The first hour at half throttle on the 05 Yamaha 150 seemed to last forever. Then as the hour meter hit " 1 " I was allowed to take her up to 4000 RPM. WOW !! 4000 RPM = 35 MPH!!

I can only imagine what WOT will bring. The Yammi is smooth and much quieter then my old engine. Wish me luck as I hope this engine lasts 17 years like the old one did.

Sweet, tell me again what it's like to be out on the water. I haven't been out since new years eve. I hope that motor treats you well. :)

Good for you. I'll be in the same boat next week and I can't wait for WOT!!! If I was 16 I wouldn't wait for break in period to end, but I'm not and I paid for my new motor so I'm going to follow the break in procedure to the letter. Post some pics!!

We can compare and contrast our 150s (even though yours is "newer")

Strip...CONGRATS,MAN...that Yammie's a SWEET motor from all I hear/ read...

What prop did you go with?...

CT...sounds like you're gettin' close...is your motor in yet?...is the bracket ready for it?...got your shop-vac hose?... ;D...

Yeah fellas,, she is sweet. After the first hour you can touch WOT for a minute here and there. I tached out with my 17 pitch at 5000 @ 40.1 MPH. The tech is gonna try a 15 pitch on her in an effort to get some more RPMs out of her. They tell me the 15 will be better for trolling and economy as well. It is soooo nice to cruise around 4000 RPM at 34 MPH, sure do get places quickly. Be on the look out for some pictures !!

Sounds great!!

I am going to a 15 on my boat (as soon as CB finishes shreading the old one ;D) I tryed my old I/O prop and it is real nice out the hole!! And I bet for trolling also!!

You will lose on the top end but I have pleanty there any way!

Good Luck

Sounds awesome. Thanks to gale warning and small craft advisory on the Sound today (not to mention its 50 degrees and raining), I'm not picking up my boat until tomorrow. Thanks to you now I know what to expect!
