New to the board and new to a V20

Hi Guys. I am new to this board and I just bought my first V20 1986 center console. It is a little rough but will be fixing her up in the next few months. I took it for its first run yesterday and was really impressed. It has a 1996 Yamaha 150 on it and it really moves. My question is the Yamaha has three idiot lites on the tac gauge. The one on the far right is lit and I am not sure what it means. I know the middle is the oil but not sure what the green one is. I cannot find my old Yamaha books that I had and thought someone on here could answer this simple question. This site is great and is very informative. Hope to be posting more in the future.

Welcome, Grady. Cannot answer your question as I have never owned a Yamaha outboard. Don't fret, someone will be along here soon to answer your question. Congrats on the new to you boat and good luck with her.

Hey grady welcome to the site this is a great forum with lots of helpfull people out there that can help,, i believe the 3 lites your a referring to are for your oil tank level,, full ,,haft,, empty,,,:hi:

Thanks for the replies. I am not sure if it is for the oil since the middle light has the oil can on it. If that is correct, then I have nothing to worry about, since I just filled the oil yesterday before taking it out. I had two 1998 150 Yammies on my old boat but have torn apart the house and cannot find my old manuels or shop books. Keep the replies coming. Thanks.

I have a 1991 but I think the warning light functions are the same.

Turn key on all 3 lights should illuminate for a short period (bulb check) then only the green should stay on indicating at least 1/4 full on remote tank.

When the remote tank drops below 1/4 full the yellow light will come on AND the system will NO LONGER automatically transfer oil from the remote tank to the engine tank.

If you keep running the the engine tank will drop to the point where ther red light will come on and you should get a warning buzzer AND the motor will drop to 2000RPM.

At this point you can either refill the remote tank to resume normal operation OR if you do not have oil available you can take the hood off the motor and use the manual transfer switch to transfer what remains in the remote tank to the engine tank.

Looking at the motor from the back (you are outside the boat) the switch on mine is on the left hand side of the computer module.

Thanks to everyone. I just went out and looked again and everyone was right, it is the oil level. The 1998 ones that had before had water and a couple of other lights so that is why I was not sure. I knew I could count on you guys for the help. Stay tuned, I am sure I will have more questions as I fix her up.

Well, I have always liked center consoles. Had Makos for years. When I got married, I bought a Grady so the wife would be comfortable. Now, going back to the center console. This is the only picture I have but will be taking more as I get things done.
