On the hunt...hog-togs and cows

If you measure sucess by size, maybe we came up a hair short, but not too bad. Let me start out by saying it was cooooollllllldddddd. Something like 19 last night and we started with ice on the deck from Thursdays snow. :o

We went to a little piece of hard bottom about half way tween me and Cy's place. When we got there, we had a real dilema. You see, we were tog fishing, but it was raining gannets ;D Well, like any good togger would do, we anchored up, ignoring the massive bird play going off less than 1/2 mile from the stern, and it was killing me. 8)

Alright, time to get to work. Crabs are scarce right now, so we had 100 chowders for bait. Let me tell you now, we ran out of bait :) Togs were going off non-stop for 3 hours. We set a personal limit of 16" minimum, and limited out with fish to 22". No TogZilla's, but a dam nice catch that gave us over three gallons of trimmed fillets.

As we were running out of bait, I switched up to my Berkley Gulp 6" grub on a 1oz head. Caught a 26" Red and two togs, including a 20"er, jigging it right on the bottom ;D

With 21 porty togs on ice, no bait left, and birds still dive-bombing, we were off to harrass the bass ;)

We caught about a dozen between 30 & 38" as well as a few shorts. Realizing we had 38 miles back to the poles and a mess of fish to clean...we took our cold and tired butts to the barn. :D

Just finished chowing down on oven fried tog...pics coming in the am, as I have no card reader on the laptop.

Totally awesome trip, and can't wait to do it again. Oh, and the boat....we were on my friends World Cat 33TE ;D
