Outboard Insulation Replacement

I have a 1989 200 HP Johnson. It is pretty loud because the person who owned it before me removed the insulation as it was deteriorating and falling onto the engine. Any suggestions on how to replace since I am sure it will make a big difference in the amount of noise.

A lot of the boating retailers sell that insulation by the sheet. I forget if it's self adhesive or you use a spray on adhesive. Either way, it shouldn't be too difficult a job.

Can the AC insulation sheet at Home Depot work? Check in the insulation isle it's laminated on both sides with a aluminum like material. Its widely used in the AC insulation industry.
Different thickness to choose from.
I am planning on using this on mine also. I will use polyester resin as the glue to secure it in place.
If any one thinks this is a bad idea please let me know and I will not go this route, this just a thought for now.

Wouldn't the insulation inside an engine compartment need to be flame-proof?...:head: ...I would think an engine mfgrs ' LIABILITY would be hangin' out about 3 miles if they used a flammable material

Overtons, Boaters World, West all have replacement kits...
