President Biden on Afghanistan

President addressed our nation this afternoon and made it clear:

1. We’re not going to keep our troops in harms way there in this never ending 20 year struggle.
2. We spent billions to equip the Afghan military and they wasted it and rolled over to the Taliban.
3. He’s keeping his promise to take us out of there as it no longer is in our strategic interests .

Slow or quick withdrawal —- the Taliban was taking over .
I for one agree .

I was going to say that "You, for one, are insignificant and irrelevant. ", but that would just be mean. But I will say that your squirming to try and find something, anything, that you can spin to try and make this disaster of a president look good is pitiful.

China and Russia would love to see us continue spending billions every year trying to maintain Afghanistan .

Our mission there is long over

Yep, I agree, but abruptly pulling out all our troops and giving the Country to the Taliban instead of a slow, orderly pull out was a complete disaster and a national disgrace. China and Russia have nothing to do with it. That's just smoke and misdirection on your part.

.

Russia and China like seeing our country waste money because they are adversarial with us .

We were wasting billions per year on Afghanistan till Biden pulled the plug .
That’s the point .

Actually it was just about a billion per year, not "billions". But that's besides the point. it's not how much we were spending. It's how we look to out allies. We are a disgrace to the world now.. Terrorists organizations all over the world are cheering the Taliban for their win. Way to go Biden!!! He's done so much harm to our Country in such a short amount of time. Even the late night liberal talk show hosts are making fun of him now.

“President Biden understands history when it comes to Afghanistan. He made the difficult decision to not hand over this longest of American wars to a fifth president,” Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the Senate’s No. 2 Democrat, said this week."

You have to wonder - is he talking about president Harris?

bgreene is merely parroting one of old lying addled and treasonous Joe Biden's claims. Here's what Biden said as he tried to deflect from his Afghan withdrawal debacle:

Our true strategic competitors, China and Russia, would love nothing more than the United States to continue to funnel billions of dollars in resources and attention into stabilizing Afghanistan indefinitely.

What the US was spending in Afghanistan has little effect on the US economy or the federal budget. To see Uncle Chocolate Chocolate Chip act as if those billions matter as he tries to push a $3,000,000,000,000 porkfest through would be laughable if it weren't so sad.

What China and Russia DO LOVE seeing is the once-superpower USA humiliated on the world stage.

As Bernard Lewis once said, "...the danger here is that America risks being seen as harmless as an enemy, and treacherous as a friend... It's a very dangerous lesson to teach the planet."

Pipe - youre wrong again .

The costs are the costs direct from FORBES, a typically conservative and accurate source of financial information.

This isnt a popularity contest this is a record of FACTS.
You quote BS I quote facts. You may not like it but doesnt change facts

And you still don't get it. The issue isn't THAT the US is pulling out of Afghanistan, it's HOW the US is pulling out of Afghanistan. And instead of addressing questions about the HOW, Biden's claim that the US's spending in Afghanistan would somehow give China and Russia leverage over us was complete and total malarkey, to borrow that term from your buddy, and addressed the THAT instead of the HOW.

Let's talk more about Mr. Tucker's Forbes piece. He says that the honor and property of the United States of America is "gone missing." He also says that thousands of interpreters and their families await visas to the US while taliban fighters parade triumphantly in captured US tanks and Humvees. He goes on saying that 10,000 US citizens still await evacuation and thousands more shelter in place. Meanwhile Joe and Kamala are on vacation, and generals are giving the press updates.

Great job, Joe!

Destroyer youre WRONG again WRONG as usual.
You post fake data just like the lying cheating traitor x President trump .

Cost us $300 million per day in Afghanistan.

Know what? You're right. I made a typo. Sue me. It should have said "last" year, not "per" year. Don't forget that last year and this year we were drawing down our forces, instead of 100,000 we were down to 2400. Additionally, there were no casualty deaths, no major battles, and a host of other reasons for the decline in cost.

Now, instead of worrying about the smoke and mirrors excuse about the cost, why don't you try actually answering Pipe Dreams post?

.

Destroyer you didn’t write a typo you wrote out the word billion and claimed it cost us one billion per year which is absolutely wrong.

Now youre same as trump the lying cheating traitor .

CNN doing an excellent job covering this Afghanistan situation with reporters in country with live reports.
CNN also deeply questioning President Bidens handling of this thing from his past comments to what comes next .
My own opinion based on all data so far is:
1. No matter how we withdrew Taliban was going to quickly take over.
2. Biden Admin did a lousy job of planning and initiating. A more deliberate measures step by step approach would have been much better.

We've gone from "we planned for every contingency!" to "it would have been chaos no matter what we did" in less than 24 hours.

We have the Defense Secretary saying that "we don't have the capability to go out and collect large numbers of people," despite the fact that British paratroopers are doing JUST THAT, getting their citizens and the Afghanis who worked for them out of hiding and to the airport.

And who's bright idea was it to evacuate military before civilians?

All of this despite having no less than 7 months to prepare?

And then there's the ABC exclusive interview with Biden, of which I've only seen a few minutes because it hasn't been released in its entirety yet (if it ever will be) and the link that ABC put up for a transcript isn't working. Here's one exchange:

George Stephanopoulos: “But we’ve all seen the pictures. We’ve seen those hundreds of people packed into a C-17. We’ve seen Afghans falling —“

Joe Biden: [Angrily cuts him off] “That was four days ago, five days ago.”

What? It was the day before yesterday. And what difference does it make even if it was a week ago?

Our country is in the worst of hands, led by an addle minded fool.

I trust the judgment and remarks of a man who fought alongside the Afghanistan military 100 times more than those of addle minded Joe. (not to mention one who can form complete and coherent sentences without the assistance of a teleprompter)
