repaired fuel tank and live bait hatch lid.

i replaced the plywood under the lids with 3/4 in marine plywood, and fiberglass it with 1.5 matted fiberglass. followed by a layer of 1078.
my question is should it be just painted or a gelcoat layer brushed on? any advice would be appreciated.

I think anything you do is for cosmetic reasons only, so which ever one you want, or none. I had to recore one this summer and was going to do the same, but threw it back on to go out that weekend and never got around to finishing it.

How did you secure your new tank in the cavity.

not done with that part yet, i installed a bilge blower with a inlet vent on the port side of the tank. the blower attached to the rear right side of transom. i have to make a hole for the vent on outlet side of blower. my tank is sitting a little higher than before and i don't want to use foam, i use starboard panels glue with 5200 to the bottom and angled sides of the cold tar epoxy fuel tank. will use marine plywood, seal with polyester resin screw to the sides to hold it down. now i have to find some teflon wrap so i can wrap around the fuel supply line i don't want it chaffing against the fuel tank panel.
