Yeah, I remember that...imagine Ol' Stinky got the Big-Eye :o ... I know I would ;) ...

Yeah the only boating accident Ive ever been in and a near fatal one at that. It broke WOT and I almost lost a friend of mine when he flew outta the boat and went underneath. He BARELY missed the prop too. I had to jump in and get him or he wouldnt be here today. Think about it, its not gonna break unless its under power....If its even questionable REPLACE IT!!!!  :o

Stinky, where does one find such an item? I looked on Ebay and also did a search on Iboats.com and nothing >:( I am tempted to see if a good welder can make one up out of stainless. :-/

I found the part locally at an outboard repair shop. however it was rusted so severely that the ''part'' was the whole midsection of the motor because it couldn't be pulled apart without breaking. I hope yours isn't so bad...it was a major job....pulled powerhead...foot...dismantle everything and put back together.

Well I been doing some searches online and found a place where I can purchase a steering arm made of stainless steel. The guy gave me a price of $425.00 plus shipping & handling. Does this price seem reasonable or is the business trying to "give me the business"  ???

I do like the fact that it is indeed SS but if I could locate one cheaper somewhere that would be a plus.

I know what you mean about the a$$ pain! I suppose the part being SS means that you buy it once and never worry about rust/corrosion ever again. This is one I will have to ponder on and discuss with the Admiral, she OK's what I can buy! ::)
