I am really liking the idea of taking off the lid and mounting it upside down. Things might get wet in there, but I wouldn't be putting anything in there which just had to be dry anyway. Thanks for your help guys.

MJ's upsidedown idea is good, you could cut out access openings and put elevated bottoms in to keep things dry ...

Mighta just developed seat boxes for all these guys wantin' 'em...hatch covers, great idea!!...might even be able to strike a deal w/ the mfgr and get boxes w/no lids ...

Skru commission!!...we start company...buy "boxes only" from them, modify into seat boxes and resell ... we be rich-bich in no time 8) ...
