Did you get that sheepie at the DUA reef? Thats where I usually head for nearshore fishing.

You planning on eating that spot pinfish? We always throw them back.

Nice groceries FWB - monster sheepie indeed!

The only 3 I don't recognize are the ones right between the black drum and monster sheep on the left. What are those?

The ringtails are gross,,,throw them all back. Just kidding, although the pic of the fish on the tailgate is a little skewed the ringtails were the biggest I have ever caught. They have beautiful meat, white like flounder but with a big blood line you have to remove . All those reef fish are excellent eating. Clean one and see how pretty the meat is!

Clean them, bake them and pick the meat. You can make some of the best fish cakes in the world by substituting the flaked meat for crab meat.

Blue.....they are white grunts, I like to scale them, score the flesh and grill whole. I make a citrus vinagrette and spoon it over the fish as soon as they come off the grill.....

Sounds great man. I caught a pair of flounder once and it wasn't going to be enough for mom, dad, kids and myself so I kept a few large pinfish. Kids never knew the difference and grown-ups got the flounders. LOL

We use ring-tails for cut bait. Like you say, most of em you catch aren't really big enough to amount to much.

The past few time out we have landed quite a few larger members of the pinfish family. I have never thought of using them for anything other than bait.

All that good stuff you whip up and you are offering ham sammies? WTF?
How 'bout fillet mignon sandwiches with romain lettuce, diced red onion, grey poupon, and a hint of spicy homemade vinegrette sauce.
:you:
