Starboard question.............

MJ... 1st you need a lip...measure diameter of your tank...you have single-wall tank, so your lip goes inside (mine's dbl-wall, so lip sits on top)...

You can cut one big ring for the lip or 4 quarter-rings to save material (saves a LOT!!)
IMGP07842.jpg

Make quarters few inches longer than you'll need so you can trim to fit

Here are the radius arms ... remove router-shoe and screw these back in place ... pivot screw in center measure to router-bit (1/8" plunge) x 2 = finished diameter of cut
IMGP07782.jpg

short is INSIDE cut of ring, LONG IS outside cut
IMGP07772.jpg

radius-arm attached to router...screw small end to stock material leaving NO movement except to pivot in a circle...

Cut out the lid ...you'll only need one ;) ... measure from edge of router-shoe to router-bit ... cut template outta masonite larger by that measurement ... sand SMOOTH edges of masonite ...clamp masonite to Starboard, and follow template w/ router ...

Don't try to make it w/just one cut and don't push router too fast ...clear groove on each pass ... takes some time, but it'll make a nice top for your tank ;) 8) ...

Oh...on those radius arms...it'll work juss-as-mo-bedder to make one long one and add a pivot-screw hole shorter by the measure of the inside cut ... I guess I just LIKED cuttin' masonite ;) ::) ...

Well there you go in a nut shell, anyone can do it!!

Yea right! ;)

How did you attach te ring to the tank?? Did yours have a lip on it?

That tank is actually two...one sleeved inside the other w/insulation material between walls...outter tank turns under the ring; it has T-Nuts in small blocks under the turn-in to catch each screw seen from the top...the inner tank goes straight up into a groove cut in the bottom side of the ring, sealed w/Aquarium sealer/adhesive ... if yours is single wall tank, the ring would go inside the top of the tank w/screws to hold in place ... that is unless ya wanna get fancier ;) 8) ...once you get the radius-arm made, it goes REEL easy ;) ...

4 "hanger-screws" go into the ring and thru the top to hold it on ... plastic wing-nuts for that ...
