Teak treatment question

Hey guys remember to throw away all staining rags and other stuff used away from the house. There have been cases where the chemicals have reacted to other things and ignited in the trash. I set mine in a pail in the back yard so if they would ignite they a far from the home.

No spark needed for some of the chemical reactions.

In my area, there was a roofing company that had some chem soaked rags
just thrown in a corner.
Next thing you know, huge fire.

Linseed oil is one of the worst for spontaneous combustion. Had a buddy who had a garge fire take half his house. After staining the deck he threw the rags in a pile...and the rest is history.

Hammer, Your teak looks good. I need to do my cuddy door. Someone painted it with brown paint so I have to strip and sand it. Hopefully it comes out as good as yours.

Hammer, lookin good.  One trick I found when reattaching the door frame to the plywood bulkhead(not the piano hinge, but the frame) is to drill out the screw holes with a 1/4 " drill bit and insert a 1/4" dowel rod.  On mine, the original screw holes were too sloppy to get a good grip because you are screwing into the ply.

Your teak looks good HAMMER,
now if you have some time while on patrol,
stop in at Stemboat Landing and grab my teak. ;D

Only problem, you will have to take a generator to power the tools,
the electric is off for the winter. ;)

Have the weekend off, so hopefully I can put on a coat of poly to finish off the teak. Couldnt find the man-o-war stuff. Oh well. She is still much better then what she looked before. ;)
Parishht, you were down last weekend. Hows the V doing. She miss you. ;D

I heard you shouldnt Poly teak.  just oil.  I think the oils embedded in the teak eventually cause the Poly to flake off.

Visited real quick, just long enough to move the engine and
keep the cables greased.
She was very glad to see me, I even thought I saw a smile across the bow.

Since it was a tee shirt day today, I decided to pull the rest of the teak off the V today, even with a A$$ kicking tooth acke :-[ Had no idea that the hatch rails were through bolted. Major pain to get off by yourself. >:(

Hammer try masking tape on the fiberglass above the kick board before you varnish. This way you can let the varnish dry and then pull the tape. I think the varnish will be hard to get off the glass alone.

Hammer, your an animal. Go to Wallymart in the home section and get yourself some shelf liner. It's got a non skid texture and a little cushion to it. I used spray adhesive to put mine down and then trimmed w/ a razor blade. Came out great. I'll grab a pic tommorrow while I'm out on the ocean trying to better Turbo's monster fish. Oops...did I just say that ;D
