Thinking about transom redo

I am going to attempt to redo the transom on the '84 228 myself. What is the average cost of the mat, resin and hardener? If I remember correctly from reading numerous post from the past, using 1708 Biaxial is best, right? Also, what is the best wood to use?
 
I used marine grade Baltic birch, 2 sheets of 3/4" for about $135 per sheet. I used epoxy resin from US Composites, about a pound of 1/4" chopped strand, 10 yards of 17 0z 45/45 biax, and I think 16 oz of silica thickener. Don't need the 1708 if you use epoxy. Also a 2" 3/8" aluminum roller is a must have. probably looking at $1200 in materials if I remember correctly. Lots of gloves, acetone, 4" grinding disks and lots and lots of rags.

The V20 have a bit of a curve that can be tough to get right. You will need to do 2 1/2" cuts on the first layer at an angle to make the bend, second layer of wood can be bent without the cuts.
 
Bought the ply from capital city lumber in Raleigh. May be able to use a composite for not much more, didn't research it that well

where were the cuts made? and how many sheets total did you use for the transom and the stringers and bulkheads?
 

See the piece of wood in the center that is not as rotten, the original transom was put in using multiple pieces. My cuts did not look like that. Mine follwed the angle of the drop down to the lowest part of the transom (opposite of angle shown). When you cut your template it will become easy to see. The idea is the just to score the plywood to a depth that you can make the bend

I believe my total project used 5 sheets of plywood. If doing stringers keep in mind they are not the same height from bow to stern. They are higher in the middle than at the bow or stern. That was a ****ty lesson measuring the stringline at bow and stern and making the cut. Good thing is I was able to use that piece on the grid.

makes sense, I always wondered how to get the bend right.
