Throttle Tilt/Trim - Need Help

Ok guys, I need some help. I have not begun to look into this yet as it just popped up a week ago but here is my issue. All of a sudden my throttle mounted tilt/trim switch is not working when tilting/trimming up. The down still works fine - as does the tilt/trim switch on the engine, works up or down perfectly. I have the Yamaha Premium flush mount side controls like the picture below. I'm guessing the issues is inside the switch on the throttle (maybe no longer making contact) but I'm all ears on how to go about diagnosing and fixing this - short of buying an expensive new set of controls. Anybody got suggestions?

Have you checked all your connections? Find the tilt trim connection for the remote in the gunnel and check for power there with a test light. Should be a green blue and red wire. I cannot remember which is up and which is down. But leave the red wire plugged in. Disconnect the blue and green wires and check them for power while pressing the up or down switch. If you get power on both wires then the problem is on the engine. If you get power on one but not the other its the switch in the remote control.

Nah, have not even taken a peek at it yet. I'll take your advice and locate the wires going to the engine and check it out with a test light then go from there. Thanks!

iid reverse the wires coming from the control tothe motor and see if the problem follows the wire, if so, probably a rocker switch fuzzed up.

Usual thing is the switch like phat said.
Use and age on the relay contacts are another culprit, ash deposits or weak relay spring.
Then start looking at the wire connections like jason was talking about.
