V21 Enclosure

I wanted to go tonight but I have a meeting. Get plenty of menhaden and get a good slick running by chuncking them up and tossing them out. I like to toss them off the front of the boat so they sink down under the boat as they float back toward the bridge. I also like to have a bag of chopped up menhade sunk down beside the boat to cover more depth. Then try to cover several depths by using more weight to get some down and some higher up. I just use a a chunk of menhaden on a hook and different size weights. The bend in the bridge seems to produce best but don't feel limited to that area. Some others have had good luck over the tube in around 25' of water. We also try just riding down the bridge looking for stripers hitting the top around the pilings then we anchor up. Good luck if you get out. What ramp are you going to put out at tonight?

went out of huntington park tonight at 7, hit the mmbt with eels over the tube and had a stretch 25 out. nothing for more than a hour. picked up and wwnt over to the hrbt. got in between all the boats at about the 3rd light pole back. lots of birds in this area. put eels out, casted to pilings with jigs and had the stretch 25 out. fished for about a hour and a half. not one hit. didn't see anybody else catching anything either. so packed it up and ran back, because i got to work and need some sleep.

so skunked again. man this sucks. so if any of you guys that are close to me and know where to go and what to do, i could use some help. so maybe i can talk you experts into going out with me or maybe you guys would let me and my father ride with you and get some experience. hope somebody did better than me tonight if they got out.

With the end of the year coming (work) and a young chid at home I have not had the chance to get out at night to give it a try. I have been reading other fishing sites and it seems to be slow for most people right now. Some say a couple of days before and after a full moon stripers don't seem to hit much. Not sure how true that is because it seems I have done pretty well on full moons. Keep trying and also try anchoring at the bend MMBT and chunking for them as I described above. Also read up on the fishing reports on this site and it sould give you a good idea of what, where, and how people are catching fish. You do have to sign up and then click Message Boards and then Virginia Anglers for the best info for this area. http://www.tidalfish.com

Fishing at night when it is a full moon is fine because the fish will feed all night. The next day is normally slow because they ate at night.

Well don't feel too bad I got skunked this weekend. Made the decision to make a run to MMBT around 8:00pm which was a late start. We through the boat in at creekside marina and off we went. It was about as slick as I have even seen that area heading over to the MMBT. We anchored up and tried chuncking for several hours with no luck. Decided to troll up and down the bridge with no luck. Decide to troll over the tunell with no luck. Went back and tried chunking again with no luck. There was about 15 or so other boats in the area and I did not see one fish landed. The second time we decided to chunck the tide had switched and I thought that might get the fish hitting but it did not work. It was so nice out on the water time few by and it was 3:00 am. We headed in and called it a night. I'm too old for these late night and Satuday I spent most of the day (well all of the day) lying around watching football. My wife was giving me a hard time until I reminded her that she told me to go fishing.
