plus I can be off doing what I do making money ;D ;D ;D

I am DYI guy!!

most of the time I save $$ but then there are others when CB helps me to find my way out the habar and we hit rocks and things, thats were I spend! :(

I think most of the people on this board are a combination of diy and hands on. we are a site devoted to a boat that has been out of production for more than a decade. the older i get, the more i realize that is is usually better to do what i do for a living & pay some one else to do what they do for a living.

Phat those are wise words my father told me long ago the same thing..... and he was right 99% of the time.

As I get a better grasp on middle age, I am starting to realize the same thing. OF course most of my life I COULDN"T afford to pay to have it done. I mean, if money were no object I'd have a fleet of boats for every purpose ;D

But it also depends on your line of work. As a contractor, the more work Lumber can perform, the more revenue he can produce.....so get out there and produce that revenue. Most of us probably have a steady income. IF I work 30 or 80 this week, I wind up with the same check.

Airslot, I'd pick 30. ;D

Congrats on the new pusher LS.

I'm sure you did good on the price but wow, I can't believe how much an outboard motor costs these days.

As for DIY or pay, I have no choice, I don't have the money.

if i could afford to pay someone else to do my hobby i wouldn't have a 20 yr old boat it would be a new one
No you wouldn't. The post I read from you sounds like you enjoy and get satisfaction from working on your boat. I'm the same way.

also, the first price that I got was only 350.00 to do the install at that price its a no brainer for me .... and to be honest i really dont know what iam doing when it come to that stuff , these guys do it everyday

Congrats on the new engine. Question - does the $14,200  include any trade value for your old engine?

buckleyjr, No no trade I sold it to my older brother for 1500.00 and hes going to put it on a 17 whaler.... personally i think hes crazy... plus hes got to convert it to a short shaft
